Wemade announced on the 25th that it has made a strategic investment of 10 billion won in the newly established game development company 'Studio Rasa.'
'Studio Rasa' is a studio founded in June by key personnel, including President Noh Chang-kyu, Project Director (PD) Kim Tae-yeon, and Art Director (AD) Kim Hyun, who are part of the main development team of 'Lies of P,' the winner of the 2023 Korea Game Awards, for the creation of console games.
'Studio Rasa' is currently developing a new game titled 'Project IL,' aiming for a release in 2028. The investment will be utilized for overall game production, including the recruitment of core personnel, prototype development, and the establishment of art resources.
Wemade decided to invest in equity after comprehensively assessing the creativity and development capability of 'Studio Rasa' and its potential for commercial success in the global market. The equity to be acquired through the investment will be at a level of 25%. Through this investment, Wemade has also secured global publishing and secondary investment rights for the new title being developed by 'Studio Rasa.'
Wemade President Park Kwan-ho said, "It is very meaningful to be with the top-level development team in the country, which has proven its development capabilities," and noted, "We will fully support 'Studio Rasa' so that Korean games can make their presence felt in the North American and European markets."
Meanwhile, Wemade continues to make strategic investments in promising developers such as SHIFT UP, Lionheart Studio, and Mad Engine, contributing to the qualitative growth of the domestic game ecosystem and expanding its global presence. Through the investment in 'Studio Rasa,' it aims to secure a lineup of global console intellectual property (IP) and further solidify its standing in the global market.
