The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) announced on the 25th that they held the '2025 K-Content Expo in China' at the Shenzhen Maritime World Cultural Arts Center from the 19th to the 21st.
This event was organized to support the expansion of domestic content corporations' overseas market access and provided opportunities for exchange and cooperation between content corporations from both countries.
A total of 30 domestic corporations participated in the event, including ▲D&C Media ▲Kakao Entertainment ▲Big Ocean ENM ▲HYBE ▲Aurora World, while 90 corporations from China, including ▲Alibaba Pictures ▲iQIYI ▲Mango TV ▲Kuaishou, also participated. During the 3-day consultation session, a total of 573 export consultations were conducted, amounting to approximately $158.28 million (about 221.4 billion won). Additionally, ▲Next Page ▲Lazeen Entertainment ▲Soul Creative ▲iForm ▲Anijak ▲Aurora World signed 6 business agreements (MOU) with local corporations, some of which led to contracts.
KOCCA held a networking exchange alongside the consultation session (B2B program) and also operated programs for general audience (B2C program), including a K-drama OST performance featuring singers Ali, Hong Isak, and Kwon In-seo. This provided an opportunity for personnel in the Chinese content industry and local audiences to participate together.
Shim Min-seok, head of the Korean Wave Support and Cooperation Division at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "This expo has laid the groundwork for cooperation in content production and export," and noted, "We will support the expansion of corporate cooperation between the two countries based on this."
Eom Yoon-sang, head of the Content Export Division at KOCCA, noted, "We were able to confirm domestic corporations' interest in entering the Chinese market," and said, "Ahead of the opening of the Shanghai business center, we will continue to support in conjunction with the Beijing and Shenzhen business centers."
KOCCA plans to hold the 'K-Content Expo' in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in July, following this event in Shenzhen, and will also hold it in Istanbul, Turkey in September, and in Warsaw, Poland in November.
