On the 25th, Kakao announced that its content publishing platform, Brunch Story, will hold the 13th Brunch Book Publishing Project.
Brunch Story will select a total of 10 works for the project, providing opportunities for book publication and awarding a prize of 5 million won each.
The Brunch Book Publishing Project is a book publishing contest that has been held since 2015. Under the slogan 'the birth of new authors', it supports brunch writers with opportunities for publication. There have been approximately 63,000 submissions accumulated up to the 12th round, resulting in 336 winners and 359 winning works.
The submission period is open until Oct. 26, and any brunch writer who has published at least 10 pieces can participate. Works can be created using 'Making Brunch Books' on Brunch Story, and submissions should be made through the application page.
Kakao will select a total of 10 works in collaboration with 10 partner publishers. The partner publishers will act as judges, selecting one winning work for publication each.
In the institutional sector, 8 works will be selected from ▲Namu Side Chair ▲Day One ▲Saemteo ▲Sigungsa ▲Anwon Books ▲Storyguy ▲Hanbit Media ▲Humanist, and 2 works each from the novel sector at ▲Banktree ▲Clayhouse.
The winning works will be announced on Dec. 17, and each winner will receive a total prize of 50 million won, with each receiving 5 million won.
Among the five works published through the previously held 12th Brunch Book Publishing Project, several reached bestseller status. Kakao plans to actively support marketing for the books to be published next July.
