On the 19th, industry-specialized artificial intelligence (AI) corporation MakinaRocks announced that it has been selected as the contractor for the 'Building ML SecOps Environment for Defense AI Weapons Systems' project promoted by the Agency for Defense Development (ADD). The total project cost is approximately 2 billion won, and the project duration is one year from the start.
The ADD is currently operating a 'Defense Intelligent Data Center' to fully integrate AI into all weapons systems it develops. This project was initiated to establish the foundation for safely utilizing the latest AI technology while maintaining security. MakinaRocks has decided to build an ML SecOps environment that ensures both security and development convenience based on its AI platform, Runway.
The AI platform is an integrated system that supports the entire process from the development, training, deployment, and operation of AI models, with notable examples including Palantir's AIP, AWS's SageMaker, and Google's Vertex AI.
MakinaRocks' Runway was the only domestic company included in the 'AI Development Platform' section of the 'Machine Learning Operations Market Map' published by CB Insights last year, which featured companies like Databricks, Dataiku, Scale AI, and Hugging Face.
Yoon Seong-ho, the CEO of MakinaRocks, noted, 'Given that a security-stable and scalable AI platform is essential in the defense sector, the capabilities of Runway will serve as the core foundation for this project.' He added, 'We will do our best to build an AI development and operations system environment so that the AI research outcomes developed on Runway can contribute to defense weapons systems.'
