It has come to light that a Com2uS employee abused their authority to sell rare items from the game on the market for illicit profit, causing controversy. The company recognized this fact at the end of last year and took action to dismiss the employee, but it has been confirmed that this employee continued to engage in unfair item transactions until recently.
According to the gaming industry on the 18th, Com2uS recently informed users through a notice that an employee managing the mobile massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'Aimo' had abused their authority to leak and sell items. This employee used a so-called 'super account,' which is an administrator account, to leak and sell items that were distributed for testing purposes. In principle, items that should have been disposed of immediately after testing were taken out for personal use and circulated externally.
The company stated that it took proactive measures after detecting the issues in December last year, before they came to the forefront. At that time, the company immediately fired the employee and conducted an internal audit. During this process, it was confirmed that 44 transactions involving equipment, jewels, and purchase orders, along with 554 transactions involving pets and costumes, had been conducted unfairly. Moreover, it was revealed that the employee attempted to trade the stolen items even after being fired.
Users who had multiple transactions with the employee claim that there were more misconducts than have been reported. They speculate that the employee could have gained benefits amounting to as little as millions of won and as much as 100 million won through similar actions. The company notes that it is difficult to verify any records prior to the engine transfer carried out in July 2023.
A Com2uS representative said, 'We feel a heavy responsibility for the lack of internal management and control procedures,' adding, 'We have established strong measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.' They further apologized deeply to all Aimo users who experienced inconvenience and disappointment due to this incident.
