SK Telecom announced on the 17th that it set up the 'SKT AI Playground' booth at the '17th Presidential Cup Amateur eSports Tournament' held in Jecheon, Chungbuk, for two days starting from the 16th, where it operated various experience programs for visitors.
The core program of the booth is the AI Robot Ping Pong Challenge. Participants compete by controlling a robot that exchanges balls with an AI coding robot for two minutes, with the winner being the one who sends the most balls into the opponent's area. Visitors can witness how the AI robot recognizes and moves the ball, allowing them to experience the latest technology and also providing various prize opportunities.
Additionally, SK Telecom provided AI robot programming education targeted at elementary, middle, and high school students who attended the tournament. Participating students used 'Lego Spike Prime' tools to code with block-style commands and experienced operating a robot based on machine learning. This was designed to help them learn complex AI programming concepts in a fun and easy way.
Hae Yoon-seong, a third grader at Ganae Elementary School who participated in the education, said, "It was fascinating to see AI judge between a fist and a scarf and move accordingly," adding, "In the future, I want to create a larger AI robot with moving joints."
SK Telecom expects this program to foster curiosity and interest in AI among children and teenagers. A company official noted, "We hope the SKT AI Playground will be a place where people of all ages can easily access and enjoy learning about AI," adding, "We will continue to expand experiential AI content in various fields in the future."
