The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that Vice Minister Ryoo Je-myeong held a meeting on the 14th at the Seoul Central Post Office with professors, corporate representatives, and experts active in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) to discuss strategies for a major transition of AI in the public sector.
Since the appointment of Vice Minister Ryoo, the Ministry of Science and ICT has been conducting relay meetings every week to listen to field opinions and establish policy directions for the leap to AI G3. During this meeting, they discussed the role of the public sector in driving the overall AI transition (AX) in the country, which is key to becoming one of the top three AI powerhouses.
At the meeting, Song Ho-cheol, the head of the platform business division at Douzone Bizon, presented on the direction of the public sector's transition to AI. Furthermore, corporations in the AI field, such as DEEPNOID, HANCOM InSpace, Simplatform, Mediazen, and others, shared difficulties they experience based on their AI service development experiences and made suggestions.
Participants noted that to successfully advance the public sector's AI transition, it is essential to expand the technological infrastructure that allows for smooth use of AI across all government operations and to enhance the usability of public data. They also suggested actively introducing AI into the individual tasks of each ministry to disseminate various public AI services that citizens can feel in their daily lives.
Vice Minister Ryoo stated, "The decisive factor for the future AI G3 leap is how well we utilize AI technology, and for the realization of AX across the country, the public sector must play a leading role." He added, "We will closely cooperate with the private sector to achieve a rapid transition to AI in the public sector."
