Samsung Electronics' DRAM market share has sharply declined. This is analyzed as a result of competition in the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) market, a key product for artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors.
According to Samsung Electronics' half-year report published on the 14th, the company's DRAM market share in the first half of this year was 32.7%, a decrease of 8.8 percentage points from last year (41.5%). The market share for smartphones, based on Tech Insight, was 19.9%, an increase from last year's 18.3%. The TV market share slightly increased to 28.9% from last year's 28.3%.
In terms of revenue by region (export sales on a separate basis), the Americas accounted for the largest share at 33.4759 trillion won. China was recorded at 28.7918 trillion won. This figure represents an approximately 11% decrease compared to the same period last year (32.3452 trillion won). Asia and Africa generated 20.8064 trillion won, while Europe accounted for 15.8623 trillion won.
The price of mobile application processors (AP), a key material and supply for the finished goods division, increased by 12% compared to the annual average last year, while camera modules rose by 8%. The average selling price of TVs in the first quarter decreased by 4% compared to the previous year's annual average, and smartphones increased by 1%. The average selling price of memory decreased by 3% compared to the previous year's annual average, and OLED panels for smartphones fell by 12%.
