KT announced on the 13th that it is officially initiating the construction of advanced defense communication infrastructure, valued at a total of 20.7 billion won, after holding a kickoff meeting for the 'defense 5G infrastructure construction project' with the Ministry of National Defense.
This project is a large-scale initiative to establish a dedicated 5G network and integrated control infrastructure for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
KT plans to carry out tasks such as ▲ establishing a common 5G core network for the Army Command and Communications Command ▲ building an integrated control system for the 5G infrastructure ▲ designing and building unit-specific 5G infrastructure for the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps ▲ and introducing specialized 5G services tailored to each branch's operational and operational environments.
Furthermore, based on years of experience in constructing defense ICT, KT plans to provide differentiated defense 5G infrastructure and application services. It will apply scalable 5G infrastructure design considering expansion to all military branches and provide services that enhance operational efficiency, such as smart forklifts at Army maintenance depots and integrated control systems for the Navy's armory.
Through this, the goal is to present a unit operation model that can respond to the future issue of declining manpower resources.
Previously, KT executed projects such as the Ministry of National Defense's next-generation defense broadband integrated network (M-BcN) construction project and the next-generation Defense Integrated Data Center (DIDC) construction project.
