NCSOFT announced on the 12th that it recorded a consolidated revenue of 382.4 billion won, an operating profit of 15.1 billion won, and a net loss of 36 billion won in the second quarter of this year. Operating profit increased by 71% compared to the same period last year, while revenue grew by 4%.
Compared to the previous quarter, revenue increased by 6%, and operating profit rose by 189%. The net loss was affected by a decrease in foreign exchange-related profits and losses due to exchange rate fluctuations.
Revenue by region was 244.8 billion won in Korea, 69.1 billion won in Asia, 26.2 billion won in North America and Europe, and 42.3 billion won in royalties. The proportion of overseas and royalty revenue accounted for 36% of the total.
Revenue from PC games was 91.7 billion won, a 10% increase compared to the previous quarter. In particular, 'Aion' grew by 53% to record 13 billion won due to the effect of the new server launch. Mobile game revenue increased by 6% to 219 billion won compared to the previous quarter. 'Lineage2M' achieved 48 billion won in revenue, a 27% increase, by expanding its service area to Southeast Asia.
NCSOFT announced the release of the large-scale new title 'Aion2' in the fourth quarter of this year. They are currently working on enhancing the content by reflecting feedback gathered from users during the FGT (focus group test) conducted in June.
To diversify its global portfolio, NCSOFT plans to establish a 'mobile casual center' and expand its investments in new genres, including strengthening large-scale multiplayer online game (MMO) development capabilities and building a cluster for the shooting and subculture genres.
