Kakao recently significantly improved the message deletion feature in KakaoTalk.
Kakao noted that previously users could only delete messages within 5 minutes after sending, but now the time frame for deletion has increased to 24 hours as of the 12th. This feature has been revamped for the first time in about 7 years since it was first introduced in 2018.
Additionally, the method of marking 'deleted messages' has been changed to ensure that the person who deleted the message cannot be identified. Deleted messages will now only display the phrase "the message has been deleted," making it impossible to know who the deleter was. Previously, when a message was deleted, information about the deleter was shown in the sender's speech bubble, allowing users to identify who deleted it. This feature is expected to be implemented sequentially on mobile and PC.
Through this update, Kakao aimed to actively reflect user demands and create a smoother communication environment. Moreover, it introduced various convenience features starting in February this year, and in March, it expanded the number of images that can be sent at once from 30 to 120. In June, it improved the 'scheduled message' feature to be easily accessible from the chat window input.
