KT announced on the 12th that it has signed a 'Strategic Partnership 2.0' with Vietnam's state-owned Viettel Group and will embark on establishing Vietnam's national artificial intelligence (AI) strategy and promoting AX (AI transformation) in the industry.
Viettel Group is a global telecommunications and technology corporation with over 100 million customers across 11 countries, including Viettel Telecom, the largest telecommunications company in Vietnam, and markets in Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
The agreement ceremony held the previous day at KT's Gwanghwamun building was attended by KT CEO Kim Young-seop and Viettel Group Chairman and CEO Tao Duc Thang, along with key executives from both companies.
This agreement is a follow-up to the first partnership established between the two companies in May, marking the transition into a collaborative phase that will concretize the practical implementation of joint projects and participation in Vietnam's national AI strategy.
The two companies will collaborate based on four key pillars: ▲ Establishing a national AI strategy and developing industry-specific AX platforms ▲ Collaborating to expand AX business in Southeast Asia based on global partnerships ▲ Creating AI-driven cybersecurity and a secure digital AX environment ▲ Strengthening AX capabilities and investing in AI talent development.
First, the two companies will jointly develop a 'National Universal AI Language Model' that learns Vietnam's unique language, culture, and administrative environment. They will also introduce on-site tailored AI solutions by building a 'Vertical AX Platform' optimized for Vietnam's key industries, including healthcare, defense, and media.
In the area of enhancing AX capabilities and fostering AI talent, they will establish a 'Global AX Innovation Center (G-AXC)' and nurture specialized personnel for research and development of the national universal AI language model.
They will also conduct joint research on AI solutions that analyze and block phishing crimes such as voice phishing and deepfakes in real time.
KT plans to establish a 'Global AX Delivery Model' through close collaboration with Viettel Group. This model is a comprehensive export framework that involves not just AI model or service development, but also AX, talent development, and the popularization of AI.
