SK Telecom has shown that it is concluding the management of the SIM card hacking incident that occurred in April.
According to the industry on the 11th, SK Telecom has reduced the crisis response meetings for executives to once a week since the 1st. The 'Customer Value Innovation Meeting,' which was held daily after the SIM card hacking incident, was adjusted to three times a week in mid-July. Since the 1st, the meeting title has been changed to 'Crisis Management' and is currently being held once a week.
Earlier, on April 19th, circumstances were discovered suggesting that some SIM card-related information of SK Telecom customers had been leaked. The company reported the incident and personal information leak to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) on the 20th and to the Personal Information Protection Commission on the 22nd.
Subsequently, a public-private joint investigation team, which includes the Ministry of Science and ICT, announced the results of the cyber incident investigation on the 4th of last month. According to the joint investigation team, 25 types of SIM card information were leaked as a result of this hacking, with approximately 27 million cases. SK Telecom stated that there have been no confirmed secondary damage cases resulting from this incident to date.
