KT announced on the 10th that it has completed the establishment of a 5G work network for the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water) to implement the 'K-water digital workplace.' With this project, employees of the corporation can perform their duties securely and stably without being confined to an office, business trip location, or home.
KT has applied the 5G mobile communication-based 'smart office network' to the Korea Water Resources Corporation's work network, the first for public organizations. It has implemented a digital work environment optimized for a working atmosphere focused on rotating duties, fieldwork, and business trips at business sites nationwide.
The newly constructed work network is a dedicated network for public organizations that applies internal security policies in a wireless network environment, overcoming the limitations of the existing wired LAN-based working environment. When employees connect a dedicated 5G terminal to their laptops, they can handle their work in a security environment identical to that of the office without separate settings.
Previously, when the working environment changed due to personnel transfers, organizational restructuring, or disaster recovery responses, time and expense were repeatedly incurred for network construction and equipment reconstruction. The company noted that utilizing KT's 5G work network allows for rapid restructuring of environments without the need for cable installation or rerouting of the work PC's IP, thereby enhancing work continuity and efficiency.
Yoo Yong-kyu, head of public projects at KT's Enterprise division, said, 'We will actively promote the transformation of digital workplaces in public institutions and innovation in ways of working by building work networks based on KT's differentiated 5G technology and optimized security infrastructure for public institutions.'
