The American artificial intelligence (AI) corporation Anthropic, emerging as a competitor to OpenAI, established its Korean subsidiary, 'Anthropic Korea,' last month, marking its entry into the domestic market.
According to the industry on the 5th, Anthropic completed the establishment of its Korean subsidiary on the 28th of last month. This is part of an investment in the Asia-Pacific region, signifying a full-scale entry into the Korean market.
Founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei and others from OpenAI, Anthropic is an AI corporation primarily focused on developing large language models (LLMs) and AI agents. It is well-known for its flagship 'Claude' series, and in May, it unveiled its latest version, 'Claude 4.'
In March, Anthropic held its first official event in Korea, hinting at plans to establish a Korean subsidiary. At the time, Chief Product Officer (CPO) Mike Krieger noted, "This year will be the first year of significant investment in the Asia-Pacific region," and added, "We also plan to create a branch in Korea."
