OpenAI announced that as of the 4th, its weekly active users of ChatGPT surpassed 700 million. This figure represents an increase of more than four times compared to the same period last year and includes all ChatGPT products, including free users, Plus, Pro, Enterprise, Teams, and educational versions.
According to OpenAI, the average daily number of user queries has exceeded 3 billion, growing at a faster pace than the 2.5 times increase compared to the previous year. The company noted that users are actively utilizing ChatGPT to learn, create, and solve complex problems.
With the increase in users, the number of paid business clients is also rising rapidly. The number of paid corporate and educational customers of ChatGPT, which was 3 million in June, has now surpassed 5 million.
The rapid growth of ChatGPT is also leading to increased revenue for OpenAI. The New York Times reported, citing sources, that OpenAI's annual revenue for this year is expected to exceed $20 billion (27.81 trillion won). This is an increase of about four times from last year's annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $5.5 billion.
OpenAI's ARR is reported to have surpassed $13 billion (18.78 trillion won) as of June. This figure exceeds the $10 billion reported by CNBC in early June and the $12 billion estimated by IT media outlet The Information by July.
