Vice Minister Ryu Je-myung of the Ministry of Science and ICT met with deputy-level officials from China and Japan on 4th to discuss ways to expand cooperation in the digital and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors.
On the same day, Vice Minister Ryu met sequentially with Xu Jizhun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, and Takuo Imagawa, Vice Minister in charge of international cooperation at the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, who visited Korea to attend the "Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Digital and AI Ministerial Meeting" held at Songdo Convensia in Incheon.
During the meeting with Vice Minister Xu, Vice Minister Ryu promised that both governments would show interest and support to ensure that the digital and AI cooperation between Korea and China progresses smoothly and continues without setbacks.
In discussions with Vice Minister Takuo, they agreed to strengthen cooperation in the digital and AI sectors to develop a future-oriented relationship as this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan.
Vice Minister Ryu said, "Both China and Japan recognized that cooperation with Korea contributes not only to the development of industries in the digital and AI fields but also to the continuous growth of the two countries," adding, "We plan to communicate closely in the future."
