The National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) announced on the 31st that it carried out an organizational restructuring on August 1, expanding the existing AI organization into three departments. This aims to accelerate entry into the top three AI countries and foster future strategic industries.
The National IT Industry Promotion Agency expanded its existing organization (AI Infrastructure Headquarters, AI Convergence Headquarters) into three departments: AI Infrastructure Headquarters, AI Semiconductor Support Headquarters, and AI Utilization Headquarters. The newly established AI Semiconductor Support Headquarters will be responsible for strategic and new business planning, as well as demonstration dissemination, while the AI Utilization Headquarters will promote the spread of AI utilization and new projects.
A policy planning division has also been established to oversee digital new industries, regulatory improvements, and talent development, while the Regional AX Headquarters will promote innovation in region-specific industries and large-scale AX projects. Additionally, the Software (SW) Future Headquarters and Virtual Convergence Headquarters will merge into the SW Convergence Headquarters, and the Global Headquarters will enhance responses to digital exports.
Park Yun-kyu, the head of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), said that this organizational restructuring is aimed at achieving the goal of entering the top three in AI and that there are plans to rapidly disseminate government policies to the industry.
