Jo Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics, said, "The speed of AX (artificial intelligence transformation) will determine the success or failure of the business," and added, "I will play the role of Chief Diffusion Officer to rapidly spread AI."
CEO Jo recently attended a member communication event titled "AX Talk Concert" focused on AX and stated, "AI is not only changing how corporations operate; it is fundamentally altering the essence of work itself." Earlier, LG Electronics presented the vision of "completely digitalized LG Electronics" and set a goal to increase current work productivity by 30% within 2 to 3 years.
During the event, 사례들 of AX initiatives being pursued in key areas were introduced. A representative example is the self-generating AI data system "CHATDA," which has dramatically shortened the research and development speed. Through CHATDA's AI-based data analysis capabilities, the data exploration time, which previously took about 3 to 5 days, has been reduced to approximately 30 minutes.
LG Electronics employees communicate with CHATDA to develop product strategies optimized for specific regions or cultures. They conduct customer visit surveys to develop products that are optimized for the living patterns of each country, and prior to this, utilizing CHATDA's data analysis allows them to set and refine hypotheses quickly for faster product development.
Earlier this year in India, "hygiene and freshness features" were added to some refrigerators. Analysis of Indian customers' refrigerator usage patterns showed that they frequently opened the door, which could decrease food freshness in the hot weather, prompting the addition of a feature that helps maintain a consistent internal temperature. In Brazil, a washing machine product with the UX order of the "small rapid course" placed at the front was also launched.
Methods of utilizing "LGini"—which is expanding from an in-house chatbot to a business AI agent platform—and its future development direction were also introduced. LGini incorporates various generative AIs based on the LG AI Research Institute's Exa-source, including Microsoft's Azure AI service, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and Google's Gemini.
LGini handles over 700,000 business interactions monthly. The interpretation function supports 71 languages and automatically processes over 1,200 hours a month, while the translation function handles more than 120,000 documents each month. In the future, LG Electronics plans to expand LGini's functionality beyond common business assistance to areas requiring advanced expertise, such as sales and marketing, and supply chain management.
