Bae Kyung-hun, Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, said on the 27th, "I will overhaul the national information security system to establish a robust cybersecurity framework that supports the AI era, and based on this, I will lead Korea to become one of the top three countries in AI."
Minister Bae visited the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) Internet Response Center (KISC) that afternoon to inspect the response system for cyber threats in the AI era and made this remark.
Minister Bae encouraged the staff who are operating a 24-hour cyber threat monitoring system, saying, "As seen in recent domestic hacking incidents, an AI era without secured cybersecurity capabilities will pose a greater threat to us."
He added, "I will actively utilize AI in all aspects of incident response to ensure proactive detection of cyber threats and swift investigation and analysis of incidents."
The Ministry of Science and ICT and KISA are operating a 24-hour monitoring system for cyber threats centered around the Internet Response Center, maintaining a constant response system with relevant agencies, telecommunications companies, and chief information security officers (CISOs) of major corporations.
In addition, they are actively incorporating AI into the incident response system to enhance detection capabilities against cyber threats. When a cyber incident occurs, they support rapid reporting and technical assistance to urgently block cyber attacks and aid recovering corporations while preventing recurrence.
