Samsung Electronics announced on the 25th that it would launch the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 foldable smartphones, as well as the Galaxy Watch8 series, domestically, and will sequentially release them in over 110 countries worldwide, including the United Kingdom and India.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 features the thinnest and lightest design in the history of the Z Fold series, with a thickness of 8.9mm when folded and 4.2mm when unfolded, weighing 215g. The new foldable smartphone sold 1.04 million units during the domestic pre-sale held for a week until the 21st, setting a record for the highest pre-sale figure for foldable phones. Two years ago, the pre-sale volume for the Fold5 and Flip5 was 1.02 million units, while the previous models, the Fold6 and Flip6, recorded 910,000 units.
Samsung Electronics noted that more than half of those who purchased the new foldable phone through Samsung.com were aged between 10 and 30. The Fold7 accounted for 60% during the pre-sale. This is the first time since 2019 that Fold sales have surpassed Flip sales during the pre-sale. In previous models, the Flip accounted for over 60%.
The Galaxy Watch8 series features a 'dynamic rug system' optimized for wrist movements, with functions such as running coach and measurement of vascular stress changes during sleep.
Samsung Electronics will offer customers who complete their purchase and activation of the new foldable devices in August an additional 10% discount coupon for the Galaxy Watch8 series that can be used on the Samsung.com app and a six-month free subscription to Google AI Pro.
The starting price for the Fold7 has been raised by 149,600 won compared to the previous model, now priced at 2,379,300 won (256GB) and 2,537,700 won (512GB), while the Flip7 maintains the same price as before at 1,485,000 won (256GB) and 1,643,400 won (512GB).
