On the 25th, the hiring platform JinHakSa Catch announced the results of a survey conducted among Generation Z job seekers regarding their experiences with artificial intelligence (AI) tools, revealing that 86% of respondents have used AI tools such as ChatGPT.
The most common purpose for using AI, according to the survey, was for "writing self-introductions and resumes (51%)," followed by "searching for corporations and job information (48%)" and "preparing interview questions and answers (31%)."
Additionally, when asked whether they have ever confided their troubles exclusively to AI rather than actual people, 73% responded that they have. The most common topics of concern were "job preparation, career, and job change (61%)," followed by "human relations (33%)" and "emotional state (32%)."
Regarding preferred confidants for consulting about troubles, 32% chose "AI," while 33% preferred "actual people," showing similar levels of preference, and 35% responded that it "depends on the situation."
In response to questions about the future roles of AI, answers included "search portals (40%)," "employment partners (26%)," and "employment counseling mentors (16%)." There was also some indication of potential expansion to roles such as "friends to share concerns (15%)" and "romantic partners for emotional connection (3%)."
Kim Jeong-hyun, the Deputy Minister of JinHakSa Catch, noted, "Generation Z is utilizing AI not only as an information tool but also for emotional comfort and counseling," adding, "While it can be useful in situations that require objective advice, excessive emotional reliance should be cautioned against."
