The mobility platform SOCAR released data on popular summer beaches based on users' stopping data on the 22nd.
This stopping data was extracted based on the locations of vehicles that were stopped for more than 30 minutes and less than 5 hours within a 1 km radius of beaches nationwide during July and August of last year. The two beaches that SOCAR users visited most frequently last summer were Haeundae Beach and Gwangalli Beach, both popular tourist spots in Busan. According to SOCAR's stopping data, the busiest time at Haeundae Beach was from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with many visitors enjoying swimming in the midday. In contrast, it was confirmed that Gwangalli Beach was most crowded after sunset, specifically after 8 p.m.
Following them, Sokcho Beach in Gangwon Province and Songjeong Beach in Busan ranked 3rd and 4th, respectively. Eulwang-ri Beach (5th) and Songdo Beach (7th), two representative beaches in Incheon, also attracted popularity. Notably, Eulwang-ri Beach did not have concentrated demand during specific times, and it was found that visitors were evenly distributed from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Furthermore, Gyeongpo Beach (6th) and Eodal Beach in Donghae City (8th), major beaches where visitors can enjoy the East Sea, also made the rankings.
In anticipation of the peak summer vacation season, SOCAR is conducting a "Summer Beach Attraction Event" until the 14th of next month. First, all members will receive a 60% discount coupon for car-sharing lending fees and a 20% discount coupon for parking fees at the Everyone's Parking Lot. The car-sharing coupon can be used on vehicles utilized inland, regardless of weekdays or weekends, and the parking coupon can be applied at partner parking lots. Information on the congestion levels by time of day at popular beaches and nearby parking lots will also be provided.
Ahn Hong-ki, head of SOCAR's service growth group, noted, "We analyzed stopping data centered around seaside attractions where summer travel demand is concentrated to ensure a pleasant summer vacation," and added, "We plan to support users in planning reasonable and comfortable trips by further analyzing usage patterns and providing various discount benefits."
