On the morning of the 22nd, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested a man in his 80s, identified as Mr. A, who was attempting to enter the National Assembly while carrying hundreds of rounds of blank ammunition.
At around 7:40 a.m. that day, Mr. A attempted to enter the National Assembly grounds on a motorcycle, and police found 300 to 400 rounds of blank ammunition and hundreds of 50,000 won bills in a plastic bag he was carrying. Authorities noted that the blank ammunition is classified as a hazardous material because it contains gunpowder.
Mr. A reportedly stated that he came to meet a member of the National Assembly, and police, considering the possibility of mental illness, took him to a medical institution for evaluation.
