Samsung announced on the 21st that it has donated 3 billion won to comfort residents who suffered significant damage from heavy rains across the country and to support swift recovery efforts.
The donation involved eight affiliated companies, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, and Samsung C&T.
Residents in the affected areas are to receive 1,000 emergency relief supply kits and 300 disaster relief shelters, which are tent-like mobile temporary living spaces, produced through Samsung's support of the Korean Red Cross. The emergency supplies consist of essential daily necessities such as blankets, workout clothes, towels, and toiletries.
Samsung Electronics Service has dispatched a special disaster recovery service team since the 18th to assist residents in the flood-affected areas, offering free inspections of home appliances and mobile phones. The special recovery service team is setting up mobile service centers in the disaster areas and providing cleaning and complimentary inspection services for inundated household appliances and mobile phones.
Samsung Card has decided to provide financial support to customers affected by the heavy rains. It will allow customers impacted by the heavy rainfall, who used their credit cards for transactions from July to September of this year, to defer payment for up to six months and to partition the scheduled payment amounts into interest-free installments over six months.
