On the 14th, the information technology (IT) security and certification platform corporation Raonsecure announced that Executive Director Lee Jae-young received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety for the '2025 Digital Government Innovation Contribution.'
Executive Director Lee Jae-young was recognized for his contributions to the stable implementation and expansion of digital identity services by participating in the South Korea national mobile identification project, which includes mobile resident registration cards, driver's licenses, and national veterans registration cards. He has overseen the construction of national mobile ID infrastructure based on Raonsecure's independently developed blockchain decentralized identifier (DID) technology. He played a key role throughout the entire process, from system design reflecting the requirements of various agencies to constructing architecture considering security and user convenience.
In particular, since March of this year, he has successfully established mobile resident registration cards, the country's first legally valid mobile identification card, mobile driver's licenses, and mobile civil servant certificates, which have marked the beginning of the digital ID era in South Korea. Alongside this, he participated in an open service project to allow for the issuance and use of national identification cards through private applications. He also improved the quality of life for citizens and the efficiency of local administration through various projects, such as establishing blockchain-based user authentication services as the first public institution for the Military Manpower Administration and developing the Gyeongsangnam-do resident card issuance system.
Executive Director Lee Jae-young noted, "This award represents the hard work of many people who have worked together to create a new service called blockchain-based digital ID," and added, "In the future, Raonsecure will lead practical digital innovation that citizens can feel and contribute to creating a safe and trustworthy digital society."
