Kakao Entertainment announced on the 9th that its popular webtoon "Fine" will be produced into a Disney+ original series titled "Low Life," which will be first released on the 16th. A contest in which the original creator, writer Yoon Tae-ho, will directly participate in the judging, as well as various events, will also take place.
"Fine" is a work that has achieved a cumulative view count of 100 million, focusing on the human landscape of treasure hunters gathered around a treasure buried off the coast of Sinan. This series is set in 1977 and comprises a story filled with various characters entangled in deceit and desire, featuring actors Ryu Seung-ryong, Yang Se-jong, Lim Soo-jung, and Kim Eui-sung. Starting with the third episode released on the 16th, new episodes will be released sequentially every week.
Writer Yoon Tae-ho noted, "This is a work that aims to capture the complex desires between characters in the atmosphere of the 1970s, and I have high expectations that the series has well implemented this."
To celebrate the series release, a fan participation contest will also be held. By the 15th, there will be a dialogue contest and a fan art contest for "Fine," with various prizes including a hardcover book, Kakao Page cash, an iPad, and a Disney+ subscription provided to the winners.
Additionally, various content-related events have been organized, including a "treasure hunting event" within the webtoon for finding porcelain treasures, a quiz and binge-watching-based "authentic goods" event, and an event providing access passes to key works for viewers of Yoon Tae-ho's major works.
Kakao Entertainment plans to enhance the synergy between the original webtoon and the drama through online and offline events related to this series and to convey the artistic world of Yoon Tae-ho in various ways.
