The top summer restaurant in the country, as chosen by users of the navigation app Tmap, is the bakery 'Seongsimdang' in Daejeon.
Tmap Mobility recently announced that an analysis of driving data during the summer vacation period (July to August) over the past three years shows that Seongsimdang ranked first among Tmap users' favorite summer restaurants for the second consecutive year in 2023 and last year. Iseongdang in Gunsan also made its mark in the top 10 for three consecutive years, indicating a strong presence of bakeries. The number of bakery restaurants that were recognized increased to four last year, up from just one in 2022.
Last year, Tmap users newly focused on a restaurant called 'Wattle-grilled fish.' 'Mackerel gone to the mountains' in Yongin, which developed a dedicated oven for grilling fish and received a patent, recorded about 24,000 searches during last summer and ranked 9th on the national restaurant rankings.
Restaurants in Gangwon Province, such as 'Cheongchosu Mulhoe' in Sokcho, 'Donghwa Garden' in Gangneung, and 'Log Cabin Dak-galbi' in Chuncheon, also ranked high for three consecutive years. 'Dream of Eel' in Namyangju, which offers grilled eel dishes, a typical summer health food, has also been included among the top restaurants for three consecutive years.
Tmap recently surpassed 25 million cumulative subscribers. The location recommendation service 'Where to Go,' which combines artificial intelligence (AI) with driving data, recorded approximately 30 million cumulative users as of the first quarter of this year.
A Tmap Mobility official noted, 'Tmap provides more reliable location information based on users' actual travel data rather than one-time reviews or advertisements,' adding, 'It will continue to evolve beyond simple navigation into a life-integrated platform that connects the entire user journey.'
