Apple Music announced on the 7th that it has revealed the 500 most streamed songs globally to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its service. BTS and BLACKPINK's Rosé have caught attention by being included in this chart.
Apple Music has been sequentially releasing its 'most popular songs' since the 1st of this month (local time), disclosing 100 songs per day based on streaming numbers accumulated over the past 10 years.
BTS recorded the 34th position with 'Dynamite.' 'Butter' also made it to the 252nd position. 'Dynamite' entered the Apple Music 'Top 100: Global' chart within the top five upon its release in 2020. Seven months later, BTS achieved the same record with 'Butter.' Over the last decade, 10 songs from K-pop have reached the top five of the Apple Music 'Global Chart,' of which three were released by BTS.
BLACKPINK's Rosé and American singer Bruno Mars' collaboration 'APT.' also recorded the 459th position on this chart. This song held the number one position on the Apple Music 'Top 100' global chart for over 60 consecutive days. It maintained a number one position long enough to rank within the top five of Apple Music's 10-year history.
The most streamed song was 'Shape of You' by Ed Sheeran, released in 2017. 'Shape of You' set the record for the most globally streamed song on its first day of release. It has recorded over 1,800 days of being number one on the 'Pop Hits' chart in at least one country and over 1,000 days at number one on the 'All-Genre Hits' chart. Ed Sheeran has a total of 11 songs in the top 500, including this one.
Drake was noted as the artist with the most entries on this chart, with 27 songs. Taylor Swift follows with 14 songs, and both The Weeknd and Billie Eilish, along with Kendrick Lamar, each have 9 songs. Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' was the only song from the holiday season to make it to the top 100. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by the band Queen, released in 1975, was highlighted as the oldest song on the chart.
