In June, approximately 660,000 people switched telecommunications providers. Compared to about 930,000 people who transferred their numbers in May, this represents a decrease of around 42%, but the level remains high.
According to the Korea Telecommunications Operators Association (KTOA) on the 1st, the total number of number transfer subscribers among SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus, and mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) last month was recorded at 666,618. Before the cyber incident at SK Telecom was reported in April, the number of transfers was about 500,000.
In June, LG Uplus secured 87,774 customers transferring from SK Telecom. KT attracted 80,243 customers. In May, KT attracted about 200,000 users from SK Telecom, while LG Uplus secured about 160,000. In May, the number of users transferring from SK Telecom to mobile virtual network operators was 85,180, but in June it dropped to 30,830.
The scale of subscribers moving from KT, LG Uplus, and mobile virtual network operators to SK Telecom was about 10,000 each in May. However, in June, 32,316 came from KT, 38,741 from LG Uplus, and 26,508 from mobile virtual network operators to SK Telecom.
