Amazon Web Services (AWS) will supply AI infrastructure for a government-led artificial intelligence (AI) research project, marking the first time a global cloud service corporation has done so.
AWS announced on the 25th that it has been selected as the final supplier of graphics processing units (GPUs) for the AI research computing support project.
The project, supported by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, aims to provide cloud-based high-performance GPU infrastructure to the domestic industry, academia, and research institutions to support AI research and development (R&D).
Through this, it is aimed to support the development of various AI models, including large language models (LLMs).
AWS plans to provide next-generation cloud computing infrastructure over the next eight months, as well as support for researchers through offline training, development frameworks, open-source installations, and data backups, covering the entire research environment.
