Apple reportedly set an internal launch goal for the delayed artificial intelligence (AI) voice assistant 'Siri' in the spring of next year.
Bloomberg, citing sources at Apple, reported on the 12th (local time) that the Apple Siri team aims to launch the revamped voice assistant as part of the upgraded version of the iPhone operating system (iOS 26), iOS 26.4, which is expected to be released this fall. However, it is known that, aside from the spring timeline, no exact date for the software release has been set internally.
Apple previously announced plans to release version 'Siri 2.0,' which combines generative AI with a voice recognition assistant to enhance usability, last year. However, on the 9th (local time) at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 25), Apple noted that 'more time is needed' for the launch of Siri 2.0. Siri is the voice recognition assistant feature that Apple launched in 2011.
Bloomberg explained that Apple might provide a preview of this feature around September when it launches the next iPhone, but no final decision has been made yet. Sources also indicated that the Apple AI team and the marketing team have been at odds. Engineering pointed out that marketing has overstated the feature, while the marketing team countered that they operated marketing according to the schedule provided by the AI team.
