The Korea Information & Communication Technology Association (TTA) announced on the 11th that the operation of the enhanced private autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) reliability verification and certification system (CAT) 2.0 has been fully initiated.

TTA has been providing CAT verification and certification services since December 2023. It operated the initial certification model, CAT 1.0, until March, conducting a total of eight certifications and 39 verification services, including those for Genesis Lab and 42maru.

The new certification model, CAT 2.0, was established in April. The 'AI digital textbook mathematics 34/56, English 56 AI assistant teacher (for teachers) and AI tutor (for students) v1.0' from i-Scream media received this certification.

CAT 2.0 was designed based on international standards such as ISO/IEC 23894 (risk management), 42001 (AI management systems), and 38507 (AI governance). It is characterized by the enhancement of functionality and performance tests that evaluate the AI system's responsiveness in actual operational environments, in addition to traditional document and procedure-based assessments.

A TTA official noted, 'With the launch of new certification cases, we have begun to provide services based on CAT 2.0' and 'By applying different assessment and testing standards according to the size and technological impact of corporations, we plan to tailor our response to the rapidly increasing demand.'

In response to the growing demand for certification to ensure AI trustworthiness, TTA is also preparing for CAT 3.0. TTA Chairperson Son Seung-hyun said, 'The full operation of CAT 2.0 marks a stepping stone toward a true AI trust society' and 'We will continuously enhance the evaluation criteria of the CAT system to support private sector efforts to secure trustworthiness.'
