Emro announced on the 5th that it has signed a contract with Doosan Enerbility for the construction of a next-generation purchasing environment and has commenced the project.
This project aims to integrate the purchasing processes, which were dispersed among existing ERP, electronic contract systems, etc., into a single platform based on Emro's supply chain management software "SMARTsuite v10.0," with the goal of improving the efficiency of purchasing operations using artificial intelligence (AI) and data.
Doosan Enerbility primarily deals with high-cost customized materials used in the construction of plants and power plants. Due to the characteristics of the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) industry, the purchasing items are diverse, and the contract structure is complex. The unit prices, delivery times, and quality of major items, which account for 60% to 70% of the budget, directly affect project performance.
Emro plans to configure the system to handle the entire purchasing process, from estimate request to the final estimate, orders, contracts, goods receipt, and vendor registration and evaluation, all within a single system. This is expected to improve the efficiency and convenience of the purchasing procedures.
Additionally, through a dashboard, the purchasing status and performance will be monitored in real-time, and it plans to support supplier evaluation and registration using historical estimates, order history, and similar item data. The management system for partners will also be operated based on data.
The next-generation system is being prepared to enable future application of AI-based purchasing automation technology. Emro plans to complete the construction by the second half of 2026 after system design, development, and integration testing.
An Emro official said, "In the EPC industry, characterized by large-scale projects, long delivery times, and high-cost structures, 'strategic purchasing' is a key element for successful project execution beyond simple cost reduction," and noted, "Through this project, we have secured another key reference to prove Emro's purchasing expertise and technological capabilities in the EPC field."
