Kakao Mobility announced on the 2nd that it has begun recruiting participants for the 4th Kakao Mobility Junior Lab, which provides coding education and mentoring for the teenage children and grandchildren of taxi drivers.
The Kakao Mobility Junior Lab is a social impact project operated by Kakao Mobility in collaboration with the Child and Future Foundation, part of the '201 Campaign,' aimed at providing practical assistance to taxi driver families using IT technology. It was launched in July 2023 and, this year, for the first time, two programs will be held during the summer and winter breaks, offering more taxi driver families the opportunity to participate.
The 4th Junior Lab will take place at the Kakao Artificial Intelligence (AI) Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, from August 6 to 9, for three nights and four days. It will include smart mobility coding practice, mentoring from active developers, team projects, mini-games, and physical activities, providing a time to foster creativity and teamwork. All expenses for the camp will be covered, and all participants will receive a certificate along with the coding kit 'LEGO Spike Prime Set.'
Applications for participation can be submitted through the Kakao Mobility and Child and Future Foundation websites, as well as the Kakao T app notice board, until July 4. Anyone with middle school-aged children or grandchildren of individual, corporate, or affiliated taxi drivers nationwide can apply, regardless of Kakao T taxi membership.
Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, said, 'I hope the children of busy drivers can find their dreams and have a pleasant time through the Junior Lab,' adding, 'Kakao Mobility will continue its efforts to advance future mobility technology while promoting coexistence with mobility workers.'
