LG Uplus announced on the 1st that it has signed a business cooperation agreement with the Federation of Banks and KT to eradicate voice phishing.
Through this agreement, the three institutions plan to establish a cooperation system to respond to voice phishing crimes, including the enhancement of voice phishing damage prevention systems and the establishment of a joint publicity system.
The Federation of Banks will provide the database of telephone numbers for landline and mobile calls and advertising text data to be utilized in the enhancement of the telecom companies' detection systems, while LG Uplus and KT will share their artificial intelligence (AI) analysis information to support the enhancement of the banking sector's abnormal transaction detection system.
Lee Jae-won, vice president of LG Uplus, said, 'We will contribute to minimizing customer losses from voice phishing through cooperation between the telecommunications and financial sectors,' and added, 'We will provide a safe financial and communication environment through the AI service "Ixio."'
Lee Tae-hoon, executive director of the Federation of Banks, noted, 'Voice phishing crimes are becoming more sophisticated as they combine with IT technology, making cooperation between the financial and telecommunications sectors essential at this juncture,' and Lee Hyun-seok, vice president of KT, said, 'We will continuously enhance voice phishing detection technology based on a dual protection network in telecommunications and finance.'
