On the 30th, GBike announced the publication of the 'GBike Social Impact Report,' highlighting achievements in environmental contributions, safe mobility environments, and job creation in local communities.
Over the past year, GBike has reduced 4,951 tons of carbon emissions, equivalent to the carbon output generated when driving 517 laps around the Earth in a private vehicle. This also has effects equivalent to creating a forest covering an area equal to 2,210 soccer fields, proving the environmental viability of personal mobility (PM) services.
PM and short-distance transportation methods like bicycles account for only 3.8% of total traffic accidents, and the fatality rate in case of an accident is also low. This suggests that PM could be a safer means of urban transportation.
GBike has created 1,100 jobs nationwide, with over 80% of these occurring outside of Seoul, contributing to local economic revitalization.
Yoon Jong-su, CEO of GBike, said, "We published the report to inform the public of our various social contributions as a corporation pursuing sustainable development," and noted, "We will continue to expand our management practices in line with ESG (environment, social, governance)."
