NEOWIZ announced on the 28th that it has signed a global publishing contract for the new game 'Kill the Shadow', which is being developed by the Chinese indie game developer 'Shadowlight'. This publishing agreement is the result of the alignment of both companies' common vision for games with a solid narrative and their strategic direction in uncovering new intellectual property (IP).
'Kill the Shadow' is a suspense-driven narrative adventure set in a fictional city divided by war, where a detective with the ability to reverse time tracks down cases to uncover hidden truths. Players will experience the process of consolidating various incidents to piece together the overall story, enjoying a high level of immersion through a narrative that is based on deduction.
It also offers various content, including a unique art style that combines 2D pixel characters in a 3D environment, interactions with distinctive characters, exploration of diverse spaces from ruined factories to exotic ports, and a multi-ending structure that changes based on player choice. The demo version of the game, released via Steam in July 2024, has received positive feedback from players for its solid story, impressive deduction system, and visual freshness.
Kim Seung-cheol, co-CEO of NEOWIZ, noted, "This collaboration began when the development philosophies of both companies focusing on narrative-driven premium PC and console games met," and added, "We will closely collaborate with Shadowlight to ensure that this can be a gift-like game for global players."
Black, the representative of Shadowlight, said, "NEOWIZ is a strong partner that resonates with our development philosophy and a trustworthy global publisher," adding, "As games are evolving beyond entertainment into cultural content, it is even more meaningful to work with NEOWIZ, which shares the same vision."
