Kakao Mobility announced on the 15th that it will run a campaign titled 'The Story of 10 Years of Kakao Mobility' through the Kakao T and Kakao Navi applications until June 10 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Kakao T service, capturing its growth journey and future vision.
The theme of this campaign is 'The mobility we have opened, the tomorrow we will open anew (Open the next).' It reflects on the journey of how Kakao T has innovated mobility over the past decade through various mobility services, not just taxi hailing, while conveying the preparation for future projects based on innovative technology, such as autonomous driving and robot delivery. To reflect this, the campaign page is composed of four main contents: ▲10 years of growth record (Open) ▲Future vision (The Next) ▲Data insight (Unlock Data) ▲User participation feature (KnockKnock!).
First, the contents related to '10 years of growth record' and 'future vision' include how Kakao T changed the paradigm of calling a taxi from 'a taxi hailed on the street' to 'a taxi that comes when called,' creating a new culture of mobility in daily life. In fact, Kakao T drew attention by exceeding 1 million cumulative calls just 40 days after the launch of the mobile taxi platform 'Kakao Taxi' at the end of March 2015.
Subsequently, Kakao T, which gained speed in its growth, has established itself as an integrated mobility as a service (MaaS) platform covering all areas of mobility services, including trains, buses, aviation, chauffeur services, parking, shuttles, and electric bicycles. Furthermore, through global services such as international vehicle hailing and rental cars, it provides seamless mobility across borders, steadily preparing for future mobility industries by planning and operating autonomous driving services and accelerating the commercialization of the robot service 'BRING.'
Through the 'data insight' content, it also revealed various statistics. As of the 6th of this month, the number of safety message sends in Kakao T's taxi and chauffeur services, relaying taxi boarding information to family and friends in real-time, stood at around 22 million, while Kakao T Shuttle recorded 150,000 passengers. Additionally, it was found that the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions from using electric bicycles on Kakao T is equivalent to the effect of planting 3.75 million trees. It was also analyzed that Kakao T's pet service provided convenient mobility services to over 370,000 pets and their owners.
Finally, for the 'user participation feature,' an event called 'A message from my future self' has been organized. The concept allows users to see an illustration containing a virtual phrase encouraging the present self from the future self, enabling them to save or share the resulting photo on social media. In addition, Kakao Mobility plans to continue the meaning of its 10th anniversary by donating funds to the environmental foundation's 'Together We Share' project, sharing expectations for a better future.
Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, will also deliver a message directly to partners through partner-exclusive channels such as the taxi and chauffeur driver app, truckers, and pickers. In the message, CEO Ryu noted, 'Kakao Mobility has been able to grow thanks to the drivers who have journeyed with us on the roads,' and expressed gratitude, saying, 'In the next decade, we will grow together and create a better mobility experience.'
