SK Telecom announced on the 14th that it has completed the subscription for the SIM protection service for all customers.
Ryu Jeong-hwan, SK Telecom's Infrastructure Strategy Technology Center manager, noted, "We have completed subscription for the SIM protection service for all subscribers from the 12th to the 14th of this month." In particular, the overseas SIM protection service has also begun, allowing customers staying abroad to complete their subscriptions.
SK Telecom proceeded with the subscription for the SIM protection service for all customers following a hacking incident, and measures were taken to enhance the system for overseas roaming users so that the service would be applied from the 12th.
Im Bong-ho, head of SK Telecom's Mobile Network Operator division, stated, "SIM card replacements at airports will be completed by the 15th, and after that, we will enhance the replacement speed at 2,600 T World stores," adding that once some progress is made regarding in-store visit guidance, replacements will be possible at stores nationwide.
An SK Telecom official said, "We are preparing measures to check and strengthen the information protection system at a group level," and added, "The committee for restoring customer trust will announce its activity plan early next week."
