POSCO DX announced on the 14th that it will hold the '2025 AI Youth Challenge,' a competition to discover creative improvement ideas and programs from middle and high school students based on artificial intelligence (AI).
This competition is co-hosted by POSCO DX and the Korea Artificial Intelligence Industry Association, and sponsored by the Ministry of Education. It is the largest AI competition for youth in the country, celebrating its sixth year this year. The theme is 'Human-centered AI with artificial intelligence,' allowing students to submit ideas for industrial improvement.
Participants wishing to join can submit ideas or programs for industrial improvement using AI technology until May 31. The submitted works will be evaluated based on creativity, technicality, and feasibility, and six teams will be selected to advance to the final round. Starting this year, a special admission system for vulnerable groups or rural students will also be introduced.
Finalist teams will receive mentorship from AI developers affiliated with POSCO DX and experts from the Seoul National University AI Research Institute for about a month, and based on this, they will create high-quality prototypes. The final awards ceremony will be held at the end of August, with the top team receiving the Minister of Education Award and a cash prize of 5 million won.
A POSCO DX official noted, 'Through mentorship from AI experts, students can naturally experience and learn technologies that are actually utilized in the industrial field, and it is expected to greatly assist them in deciding their future career paths.'
