Some KT stores informed customers that from the morning of the 13th, they could receive up to 240,000 won as a public subsidy for the 'Galaxy S25 Edge.' This was not an exact amount as the announcement of the public subsidy set by the headquarters had not yet been made. In a sense, they shared incorrect information to secure pre-order customers first.
According to the industry on the 13th, some KT stores were recruiting early bird applicants for Samsung Electronics 'Galaxy S25 Edge' and provided information on public subsidies by rate plan. They stated, 'If you use a monthly 130,000 won plan, you can receive up to 240,000 won.' Currently, they have suspended recruitment of customers under these conditions.
A KT representative noted, 'We have not yet informed the distribution network about the public subsidy for the Galaxy S25 Edge,' and explained, 'Some stores guided this based on the assumption that the public subsidy level would be similar to that of the predecessor (Galaxy S25 series).'
KT will begin official pre-orders for the Galaxy S25 Edge from the 14th and continue until the 20th. While recruiting applicants who can receive pre-order notifications first at authorized stores, they explained that a 'simple mistake' occurred. In fact, on the same day, about ten stores of the three major mobile carriers stated, 'The public subsidy for the Galaxy S25 Edge is currently not disclosed,' adding, 'Once pre-orders start and precise purchasing conditions are announced, we will contact you separately.'
KT, along with SK Telecom and LG Uplus, plans to announce the public subsidies for the Galaxy S25 Edge simultaneously with the beginning of pre-orders. The pre-order activation for the Galaxy S25 Edge will start from the 21st, with the official release scheduled for the 23rd of this month.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price released by Samsung Electronics on this day for the 'Galaxy S25 Edge' is 1,496,000 won for the 256 gigabyte (GB) model and 1,639,000 won for the 512 GB model.
An industry insider said, 'Initially, public subsidies are generally set low when new models are launched,' noting, 'It is highly likely that the public subsidy for the Galaxy S25 Edge will be set similar to the initial amount of the predecessor, the Galaxy S25 series.'
