Beam Mobility announced on the 7th that it has introduced an 'AI parking assessment system' at Daegu Technopolis. This system has expanded its application areas based on actual operational data after being first applied in Cheongju City in October last year.
The 'AI parking assessment system' automatically takes photos at the end of electric scooter use, which are analyzed in real-time by artificial intelligence (AI) to assess the appropriateness of the parking condition. If the parking location obstructs pedestrianways or if the electric scooter has fallen, a warning message is displayed on the app screen, guiding the user to recheck the parking condition.
This system is linked with a GPS-based virtual designated parking system within the app, and use termination is restricted outside designated return areas. It allows for management of parking locations without physical docking stations, and the AI analysis function detects the condition of device placement as well.
Since its introduction in Cheongju, the compliance rate for electric scooter parking stood at 81.56% as of March 2025, an increase of about 30 percentage points compared to the early stages of its implementation. Beam Mobility explained that this figure indicates some effectiveness in improving user parking behavior.
A Daegu city official noted, 'The AI-based parking assessment system can serve as a tool for managing pedestrian environments along with the virtual designated parking system.' A Beam Mobility representative said, 'This approach helps users check and correct their parking status themselves, allowing for the expansion of application areas based on operational data.'
