After subscriber USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) information was stolen in a hacking attack, SK Telecom opened an online reservation system for free USIM replacement on the morning of the 28th, but access issues have arisen as applicants flocked from the outset.
As of 1:30 p.m. that day, when entering the T World app, a message appeared saying, 'There are many users, so please access via the mobile web.' After pressing the button to reserve the USIM replacement, it noted there were currently about 900 people waiting. Even before 10 a.m. that day, there were notices of 'access delay,' causing the service to be non-functional for dozens of minutes. The webpage functioned normally initially but began to experience access issues as the number of waiting individuals surged closer to 10 a.m.
SK Telecom noted, 'Recently, many customers have shown a high interest in personal information security, and if many customers flock to stores on the first day of the replacement service, significant inconvenience is expected on-site,' urging customers to actively utilize the online reservation system.
The USIM free replacement reservation system can be accessed directly at the webpage address (care.tworld.co.kr) or through a search portal, as well as the initial screen banner on the T World homepage. Users need to go through identity verification and select the desired store for replacement.
On that day, the USIM protection service also attracted a flood of applicants. As of 12:10 p.m., when entering the USIM protection service signup page through the T World app, the estimated waiting time was displayed as 88 hours and 23 minutes, with the number of people waiting recorded at 318,193.
