Remember & Company, which operates the country's largest new graduate recruitment platform 'Jasosul.com,' announced on the 17th that the university student who wrote the most self-introductions during this year's first half recruitment season was a 'business major.'
According to an analysis of self-introduction data written during the first half recruitment season from January to March on Jasosul.com, business majors recorded the highest number of self-introductions at a total of 102,319. Following them were ▲mechanical engineering (43,290) ▲computer science and engineering (39,088) ▲electrical engineering (34,758) ▲economics (31,130).
Jasosul.com analyzed that the reason for the high number of self-introductions written by business majors during this first half recruitment season is due to their major's characteristic of being able to apply for relatively diverse job functions. This also means that there were many job postings available. In fact, business administration encompasses a variety of detailed fields, including finance and accounting, marketing, human resources management, and business strategy, making the career paths greatly diverse.
Job seekers majoring in business can accumulate a broad range of knowledge, but demonstrating expertise in a specific area is also very important in job search strategies. This trend reflects an increasing emphasis on utilizing self-introductions as a means to showcase individual expertise and strengths.
Recent trends in new graduate recruitment have also influenced this. As the hiring trend of 'regardless of major' spreads, primarily among large corporations and public enterprises, business majors seem to be striving to demonstrate their unique competitiveness through their self-introductions.
The university with the most written self-introductions was Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, with a total of 23,422. It was followed by Kyunghee University (22,843), Chung-Ang University (20,836), Sungkyunkwan University (19,388), and Inha University (18,345).
The number of job posting views during this year's first half recruitment season also increased. Jasosul.com's job posting views were about 39.9 million, up 19% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, the number of self-introductions written increased by 15% year-on-year, recording around 740,000, indicating that job seekers are actively pursuing career opportunities even in a challenging recruitment market due to economic downturns and changing hiring trends.
Lee Seon-jeong, Head of Team at Remember & Company, noted, "As the new graduate recruitment market becomes more frozen, job seekers active on Jasosul.com are preparing for employment more passionately rather than giving up. Jasosul.com will continue to showcase convenient features to help job seekers systematically prepare until the day they are accepted by the corporations they aspire to be part of, as the country's largest new graduate recruitment platform and the best employment preparation partner."
