KT announced on the 14th that it will expand the 'malicious text alert' service in collaboration with Samsung Electronics to multimedia messaging (MMS) starting next month.
KT displays the phrase 'suspected as a malicious text' on spam and smishing suspicion messages. This feature uses AI technology to identify messages that may be spam or smishing in real time, and prompts user attention without requiring separate application installation on Samsung Electronics Android smartphones.
Since December last year, it has been applied to short messages (SMS) first, and is currently being provided to about 7 million KT users on 37 types of Samsung Electronics devices.
KT added that, based on the analysis of texts classified as malicious so far, 99% were confirmed to be malicious spam and advertising messages that lure individuals into gambling, illegal loans, and adult content.
