KRAFTON announced on the 14th that it will donate a total of 1.236 billion won to support the rapid recovery of areas affected by wildfires in the Yeongnam region and to assist victims in collaboration with PUBG STUDIOS.
This donation is made in the aspect that corporations actively participate in overcoming national disasters and exemplarily continue social contributions. KRAFTON emphasized that the wildfire damage in the Yeongnam region is a disaster that the community must jointly respond to, and noted that it decided to contribute the largest donation in the game industry to provide comprehensive support for recovery.
The relief fund was established through contributions made in the name of KRAFTON employees' fundraising matched by the company and donations made by users of 'PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS' (hereinafter referred to as 'Battlegrounds') through PUBG STUDIOS.
Earlier, KRAFTON launched a matching grant-based fundraising campaign for all employees from the 26th of last month for 11 days to raise donation funds. The matching grant program has been in operation since 2021, where the company matches the donations raised voluntarily by employees. A total of 481 employees, including Chairman Jang Byeong-kyu and CEO Kim Chang-han, participated in the campaign that ran until the 6th of this month.
Jang Tae-seok, the general producer of PUBG STUDIOS, said, "Since 'Battlegrounds' has grown with the interest and love of players over the past eight years, we decided to conduct the donation collectively in the name of community members as a way to give back."
The donation will be used for practical support for the areas and residents affected by the wildfires. KRAFTON will deliver relief supplies necessary for the stabilization of the lives of victims through the nonprofit organization The Promise, which specializes in disaster social welfare. Additionally, it plans to use the funds donated to the Gyeongbuk Community Chest to support ▲ youth and children ▲ daily life recovery for the victims ▲ reconstruction efforts, thereby aiding the rapid rebuilding of areas severely impacted by wildfires.
Meanwhile, KRAFTON has actively participated in disaster relief and recovery efforts, contributing to crisis recovery. During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, it donated 1 billion won for prevention and relief supply support, and in 2023, it also contributed about 126 million won to regions in Turkey affected by earthquakes.
