Kakao Games announced on the 11th that the first developer's note for the next-generation action massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) 'Chrono Odyssey,' which is being developed by Chrono Studio and is responsible for global publishing, has been released. This is based on feedback collected during the closed focus group test (FGT) held in February.
According to the developer's note, FGT participants recorded an average playtime of 11 hours and 20 minutes. The most popular visited area was 'Soroma Fortress,' characterized by its eerie atmosphere that seems to harbor secrets. Test participants used the 'bow' the most among the various weapons in the game, followed closely by 'sword and shield' and 'crossbow.' It was analyzed that there were many users aiming to enhance their combat stability by choosing ranged weapons or weapons balanced between attack and defense, as diverse battle patterns unfolded in the game.
The most popular content during the FGT period was 'Bounty Hunter.' The main wanted monster, 'Gluttonous Bucci,' was reported to have been defeated more than 100 times. Additionally, 'World Boss,' 'Labyrinth,' 'Trial,' and 'Time Portal' content also showed high user participation rates. During the same period, 50,560 ordinary monsters were defeated, with 'Scratcher,' 'Broken,' and 'Blind' being the most hunted monsters.
Scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year, Chrono Odyssey is an open-world action game adopting a package (Buy to Play) model, to be introduced on platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Its notable features are heavy action reminiscent of souls-like games and diverse combat utilizing time manipulation.
Kakao Games has acquired the rights to domestically and internationally service Chrono Odyssey (excluding China and Russia), and seeks to tackle the global market by adding a large-scale MMORPG new title to its PC and console lineup. It plans to support the global launch of Chrono Odyssey based on years of accumulated MMORPG service expertise.
A representative from Kakao Games noted, 'We will spare no effort to deliver the unique fun that only Chrono Odyssey possesses through close cooperation with the developer Chrono Studio and to play a key role in expanding the Kakao Games platform.'
