Omnissa, a digital workspace platform spun off from VMware, held a press conference on the morning of the 10th at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, announcing plans to expand its business in South Korea.
The conference was held just before Omnissa introduced its new partner program targeting South Korean clients. Renu Upadhyay, senior vice president of marketing at Omnissa, participated online to explain the business plans. Representatives from the domestic distributor, Etaverse, and Daou Data also attended.
During the meeting, Upadhyay noted, "South Korea is one of the largest markets in the Asia-Pacific region," adding, "I think a great opportunity has come to activate the partner ecosystem as an independent corporation."
Omnissa is a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) provider creating remote desktop and application virtualization solutions. According to the company, it currently has over 26,000 clients worldwide and employs about 4,000 people.
In South Korea, a total of seven employees work, and there are more than 90 domestic partners and over 500 clients. The South Korean market ranks 12th in Omnissa's overall global sales. Omnissa plans to recruit new partners in Seoul, Singapore, New Delhi, and Sydney.
Omnissa, which had been operating in VMware's end-user computing (EUC) institutional sector for over 20 years, was sold to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR), a U.S. private equity fund manager, after Broadcom acquired VMware last July. It later became an independent company.
Since its independence, Omnissa launched a new partner program on the 24th of last month. The company simplified partner tiers into three categories (Platinum, Gold, Silver) and reduced its business models to three: reseller, service provider, and technology partner. Omnissa stated that partners will enjoy various financial benefits, such as increased prepaid margins, joint account team access, and training funds. It also announced the introduction of an integrated points system for partners.
At the press conference, a question was raised about how Omnissa differentiates itself from domestic VDI providers. Upadhyay remarked, "Omnissa is the only vendor providing comprehensive solutions," and stated, "Other vendors offer solutions limited to certain services." He continued, "We manage not only the desktop environment but also endpoint management. Additionally, we provide employee training and digital transformation experiences."
Kevin Norlin, chief revenue officer and senior vice president of global sales, stated, "Omnissa is building a partner ecosystem that enables partners to achieve greater growth and expand innovation through collaboration with clients."
