AhnLab announced on the 3rd that it conducted a special lecture on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) focusing on climate risk management and financial impacts.
The special lecture was given by Director Kim Jae-yoon of the Bank of Korea's Sustainable Growth Division. He explained the points based on the 2024 report titled 'The Impact of Climate Change Risks on the Real Economy,' covering ▲types of climate change risks ▲economic impacts of climate change risks ▲implications for corporate management.
Director Kim Jae-yoon emphasized, "Climate change risks are expected to have a negative impact on the domestic economy for an extended period if there is no response or if it is delayed, and even if the direct impact of climate change risks seems minimal for AhnLab due to its industrial characteristics, the effects on other industries and corporations within the supply chain may spill over and transfer, necessitating continuous monitoring and enhanced efforts to respond to climate change."
AhnLab's Executive Vice President Inch-beom noted, "As the uncertainty in the management environment increases due to climate change, it is becoming more important to view this from a risk perspective. It was determined that in order to secure corporations' sustainability, analyzing the financial impacts of climate change and seeking response measures are necessary, which led to the preparation of this lecture."
AhnLab has been conducting ESG training for employees on various topics such as human rights, environment, and fair trade since 2022. Additionally, starting in 2024, it will provide recorded lectures through the company portal to improve accessibility to training, allowing employees to participate in learning without constraints of time and location.
